BOOKING INFO FOR BANDS & MUSICIANS

** NedFest is a very difficult festival to get in. **

GETTING A GIG AT NEDFEST

NedFest has received a great deal of attention over the past ten years and as a result we are finding that more and more bands, artists and musicians from around the World are wanting to perform here. We must be very choosy in whom we select, as great talent is the crucial element to a fun and successful music scene. With only 15 headlining spots to fill and well over 1,500 great bands wanting to play, choosing who gets in is a very difficult and time-consuming task. We look for performers who are friendly and easy to work with. It is also extremely important that the acts have good name recognition, a substantial audience draw, and perhaps most importantly, a sound that meshes with that NedFest vibe.

If you contact us (or if you have already contacted us) please understand that we are insanely busy right now and we apologize in advance if you don't hear back. It's just that we get more band submissions and other inquiries than you could possibly imagine, so replying to everyone who reaches out is simply 100% impossible. Sometimes we can't even get back to our own friends and families in a timely manner anymore, so please forgive us. And, yes... we got your promo pack.... and we love it.

Band Applications

We can't hire you without knowing what you sound like, obviously, so if you want to be considered for a gig you'll have to get a recording of your music and some promotional material to us. The best procedure is to send over a quick email to let us know you'll be sending something. Then send your package to the snail mail address below. About two to three weeks later contact us again to make sure that we have received it. If you don't hear back from us, we apologize, but as stated above, we are extremely busy and get an overwhelming number of emails, voicemails and promo packs each week, so it is literally impossible to get back to everyone who contacts us. We try, out of professional courtesy, but NedFest is, in large, a one-man operation. I do what I can... but no guarantees.

Note: Internet connections in the mountains can sometimes make it impractical to listen to music on-line.

Suggestions for sending your Promo to Talent Buyers

1) Talent Buyers and Booking Agents get more material than you might imagine, and it is easy for CDs and other recordings to get lost on the shelf if not properly labeled. Therefore, we cannot emphasize enough just how important it is that CDs come in standard-size plastic jewel cases with the name of the band on BOTH SPINES (the thin sides) of the jewel case!!! We have hundreds and hundreds of demos (well over 2,000) on multiple shelves, and the ones not labeled properly (i.e. the ones in ultra-thin jewel cases or in paper sleeves) are extremely difficult (ie almost impossible) to locate. Additionally, the name of the band should be on the actual CD itself.

2) Full-length CD's are MUCH better than short demos with only a few tracks on them. And those demos that have only 30- or 40-second clips of each tune... those are the worst. Don't do that.

3) While the quality of the actual recording is important, the quality of your music is by far the most important! Do not send something out that you don't think is 'all the way there'. Sending out only 'so-so' recordings probably won't get you a gig that time... and it could make it harder for you to get another listen later. Be certain that you send out recordings of only your best performances, studio or otherwise.

4) Do send promotional materials with your CD, but don't feel you have to go crazy with it. A small amount of print material and maybe a good photo is really all you need. Perhaps include a good magazine/newspaper article about the Band if you have one, but that's about it. We feel bad when people send three-ring binders with pages upon pages of information, when largely what it is all about is what's on the CD. There may be a need to send more promo stuff later if a gig works out, but save a little cash and keep things easy until that happens.

5) Indicate the specific date(s) you are looking for... especially if you are routing a tour from another region. There is obviously more flexibility in scheduling local acts due to the nature of them living in the area, so please indicate whether you are on a tour or if you live nearby when you write, email or call.

6) It is wise to indicate what attendance numbers you have been getting recently, particularly for in the market which you are soliciting a gig. For example, if you are applying to NedFest, please list the numbers you have been bringing in to clubs in Boulder, Denver, Ft. Collins and other Front Range towns. Include the Venue name(s), ticket prices, and whether you were Headliner or Support.

We hope this information helps.
